Horizon Receives a .76 EMR!
Every company receives an Experience Modification Rate (EMR), calculated every three years by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI). This calculation takes several factors of a business into consideration when determining their EMR. Namely, the inherent risk of the job and past workplace injuries that have occurred.
Why Is This Number Important?
Simply put, this number signifies how safe a company is. The industry average EMR is a 1.0. Companies with scores higher than 1.0, are more or less considered to be unsafe. The EMR a company receives can impact them greatly. Not only does it affect insurance rates and premiums, it can play a significant role in bid success. Many general contractors will not even consider companies with an EMR of 1.0 or higher for their projects, significantly limiting their work.
Choose Wisely, Choose Horizon
We, at Horizon Glass, recently received a rating of .76 and we are extremely proud! We are so excited to be amongst the few companies that receive a score this low. We take safety very seriously, so receiving an .76 EMR, which is considered to be extremely low, is very rewarding. Our instruction and emphasis on safety results in very few workplace injuries, and a .76 EMR is proof of that.
